It seems that last night, my step brother, Creepy took some stranger home from the bars. Once they got to this kids house, the very dim witted Creepy was convinced by said stranger, to get out of the car where some other jack ass proceeded to pound his face in….with a shovel! Creepy never saw it coming but he’s a really tough kid and he immediately started to defend himself against a slew of other guys who just happened to be at this place quite conveniently where the stranger wanted to be dropped off.
Meanwhile, in the back seat, my other step brother, Creepy’s twin Brow was waking up to the tussle. He jumped in to defend his brother.
…and this is where I stop the recount of what happened to let you all in on a dirty little secret. I live in Indiana in a piece of shit town in the Midwest of the United States where it’s illegal to be Hispanic. Oh, no, wait, I got that wrong, I mean, where alot of the white folks around here would like to see it made illegal to be Hispanic…oh, and Black too, yeah that would be good for them.
It just so happens that there are certain groups of people in this here city that don’t take a liking to people of pigment and they are not afraid to make it known. Hell why would they be afraid. The police in these here parts has made it pretty damn clear that they believe there should be a racial war and they’ve made it clear whose side they are on.
I sound crazy, paranoid even…I know…but I’m not.
Back to the recounting of last night’s events…
Once the police arrive guess who gets carted off to jail? Is it the collection of crazy white kids with shovels? Nope, it’s the two Brown kids who got their asses kicked for being stupid enough to take a complete stranger home for the night.
The police officer says to Creepy something to the effect of “you Mexicans should have stayed where you come from.” Of course, to these uneducated morons think every Hispanic is a Mexican. How would you like it if we mistook you for a Canadian…you all look alike to me. Now that is offensive and I’m sorry. Because I don’t feel that way.
I hate racism. I hate that it’s so prevalent here and that it makes me feel so small and impotent. Why are people so stupid? What the hell is that cops problem? And a shovel? Really? Do you hate Brown people that much that you had to go and hit one of us with a shovel for no reason at all?
Senseless violence and pointless hatred. I don’t get it.

i dont get it either….
after three hundred and sixty years we still have the same stereotypes and its stupid….
its not fair, that the white kid didnt get arrested. he should have gotten arrested, its only fair right?
and yet the brown kid got arrested for letting a stranger in? and its the police that got him arrested.
now if this was a white kid vs. white kid, the one with the shovel would have gotten arrested.
ok so i agree that the brown kid was wrong to let the stranger in because he made the first move, but its the kid with the shovel that beat him.

Wow, that is really messed up. I’m sorry about your step brothers. It must be scary to live in a town like that and be the “wrong” colour.
Senseless violence certainly exist. It’s lucky that your step brothers weren’t killed. It kinda reminds me of that poor gay guy who was strung to a fence post and left to die just because he was the “wrong” sexuality.
What is the world coming to?
Thanks so much for your comments.
Sweetangel, I only wish this world could be fair. Since it’s not, I’ll make sure to send some very concerned letters to anyone who is willing to listen in regards to this incident. I can’t say that I’ve ever been the nicest step sister to these boys but family is family. I’m not just going to sit here and watch them pay for getting beat up.
Cool Polar, you are completely on the mark. It can be dangerous in this world to be the “wrong” anything. That is the precise reason why I posted this incident, in the hopes that other people would read it and be appalled. No one should be made to feel inferior because they are different and much less be beaten and then arrested for it…god forbid killed over it.
Alas, that is precisely what happens in this world.
Urgh. Few things push my buttons and get me angry like racist talk or behaviour. I’m shocked that behaviour like your brothers experienced still exists in this world. It shows that we’re really not as developed a society as we like to pretend we are.

Holy fucking shit dude……..Reading this made ME feel helpless and angry…I can’t imagine how it feels…….Ugly…………Saying I’m sorry is kinda pointless and rather stupid, but I am, this shouldn’t be how things should be…
That totally ticks me off. I’m fluent in Spanish, taught immigrants in Texas for 4 years, and even in a majority Hispanic area, some rednecks were still racist. It shouldn’t matter what color your skin is or what language you speak AT ALL. We’re all human. Period.
Now if I were there, I would have started going off in Spanish at the police… he he he… I remember some of my students thought I was from Mexico City. I’m blonde and have green eyes, but they said that there is a German influence in Mexico City. Heck, I could have passed for Hispanic many times.
People just don’t get it. Especially in our lovely Midwest. Sigh.
